Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 3, 2026

THE KIM THOMPSON METHOD ("we," "us," or "our") operates kimthompsonmethod.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what information we collect from visitors and clients, why we collect it, and how you can control it. By using this Site, you agree to the practices described here.

We are a small, independent education-coaching business. We are not a law firm, and this policy is written in plain language rather than dense legalese. If you have specific concerns, contact us directly at info@kimthompsonmethod.com.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you choose to give us, through:

  • The Contact form: your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message (which may include your child's age or details about your situation).

  • The Newsletter signup: your email address.

  • The Services waitlist: your email address.

  • The Unscripted Interview: from the parent: their email, their child's first name and age, and one question about their child's interests. From the child: their first name and their answers to nine questions. See Section 5.

  • Booking a Strategy Briefing: your name, email, phone number (if provided), and the answers to the pre-call questionnaire about your child and your family's situation. Scheduling is handled by Calendly; payment is handled by our payment processor (see Section 3).

We do not collect payment card details ourselves. These go directly to our payment processor, which we do not see or store.

We also automatically collect basic technical data common to most websites: your approximate location (country/city, inferred from IP address), browser type, device type, and which pages you visit, via Squarespace's built-in analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you give us to:

  • Respond to your messages and inquiries

  • Send the newsletter you signed up for

  • Notify you when the Services waitlist opens

  • Prepare for and deliver your Strategy Briefing call, including tailoring the advice to your child's situation

  • Improve the Site based on how it's actually used

  • Meet our legal and accounting obligations (e.g., transaction records)

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your child's details for anything beyond preparing for and delivering your own consultation.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

To run this business, we rely on a small number of trusted service providers, each of which processes data under their own privacy policies:

  • Squarespace: website hosting, the Contact/waitlist forms, and site analytics

  • Kit (ConvertKit): sending the newsletter and managing email subscribers

  • Tally: hosting The Unscripted Interview form

  • Calendly: scheduling the Strategy Briefing call

  • Stripe: processing the $297 Strategy Briefing payment

We choose providers with strong security and privacy practices, but we encourage you to review their policies directly if you'd like more detail.

4. Cookies

The Site uses cookies (small files stored in your browser) for basic functionality and anonymized analytics, via Squarespace. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may not work as well as a result.

5. Children's Information

Most of this Site is intended for parents and guardians. One part is not: The Unscripted Interview is answered directly by a child.

How it works. A parent or guardian signs up first, confirms that their child is 9 or older, and confirms that they are the child's parent or guardian. Only then do they receive the link and pass the device to their child. We do not make the Interview available to a child who has not been given it by their parent.

What the child gives us. Their first name and their answers to nine questions about what they are interested in, what they have made on their own, and what they would like to learn. We do not ask for their surname, email address, photograph, location, or any contact details.

What the parent receives. A short written read from Heidi Kim Thompson, drawn from the child's answers, plus a suggested project for the child. One section of the Interview is marked to the child as private. Those answers inform Heidi's read but are never quoted, shared with the parent, or reported back in any form.

What we never do. We do not use children's information for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making. We do not sell it, share it with third parties beyond the service providers listed in Section 3, or use it to train artificial intelligence systems.

How long we keep it. A child's Interview answers are deleted within 90 days of the parent receiving their read. The private section is deleted as soon as the read is written.

Parental control. A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct, or delete their child's answers at any time, without explanation, by emailing info@kimthompsonmethod.com. We will act on it promptly.

Where a parent shares information about their child elsewhere on the Site, for example in the Contact form or the Briefing intake, that information is provided by the parent and used solely to personalise the advice we give to that parent.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to ask how it's used. This includes protections under frameworks such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO), India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), and the EU/UK GDPR, where applicable to you.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@kimthompsonmethod.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time and, in any event, within any timeframe required by applicable law.

7. International Data Transfers

Because our clients and visitors are based in a mix of countries (including the US, Singapore, and Hong Kong), your information may be processed in a country other than your own, for example on servers operated by Squarespace, Kit, or Calendly in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle data securely regardless of location.

8. Data Retention

We keep contact and client information for as long as needed to provide our services and to meet legal, accounting, or tax obligations, and then delete or anonymize it. Children's Interview answers are held to the shorter schedule set out in Section 5. You can ask us to delete your information sooner by emailing info@kimthompsonmethod.com, and we will do so unless we're required to retain it.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including relying on providers (Squarespace, Kit, Calendly, and our payment processor) with industry-standard security practices. No online system is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we do not store payment details ourselves and limit access to client information to Heidi Kim Thompson directly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally as the business or the tools we use change. The "Effective date" at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
